In Spain, in the CAPs the basic nucleus is made up of health professionals (family doctor, paediatrician and nurse), as well as administrative staff. However, it is increasingly common to find other professionals (social worker, midwife, dentist, psychologist, psychiatrist, rheumatologist, etc.) who are expanding the spectrum of services offered in health centers, although their contributions to primary care.

A doctor's office refers to a smaller health structure, generally located in a town, and with fewer professionals. It is made up of at least one rural doctor. Organizationally, one or several clinics usually depend on a reference health center.

In Spain, an outpatient clinic is considered to be a polyclinic in which several medical specialties work, and exceptionally general practitioners.
